Photographing the wild

This section of my website is dedicated to my work that’s a bit on the “wild” side. Here, you will find news about upcoming projects and a section of my artistic and editorial work with a special emphasis on animal beings we don’t tend to encounter in Central Park. I have spent a lifetime around animals, living with them side by side in my home and caring for them at the Bronx and London Zoos. I continue to spend time with equine facilitators, dog trainers, and sanctuary owners, who rescue farm animals, horses, wolves, and even great apes. The deeply personal art born of these experiences arises from inquisitive longing and my need to celebrate the connections we all have with the animals with whom we share this planet. My mission is to articulate, reveal, and reflect the mysterious depth of these relationships: I long to understand the animals and have them understand me.

Teach Us

I am currently working on a fine art photographic book called “Teach Us” about individuals with extraordinary connections to animals. This is a book of portraits of individuals whose steadfast and compassionate work is helping to raise our awareness about animals as wise, sentient beings who also have the ability to teach us and even to heal us in profound ways.

The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.
